Zeicher/Zecher in Ashrei was created by Daniel
Is the proper minhog to say zeicher (as I think it is) or zecher? Is this the same issue as that of the pronunciation when reading parshas zochor?

The proper minhag is to say zeicher. The reason some people read it twice with both options at parshas zochor, is because there is a question as to what the Vilna Gaon said - some claim he said (only) Zeicher, and some claim he said (only) Zecher. In any case - minhog Ashkenaz is to say Zeicher.

Rav Hamburger told me that in Ashrei, we do see in some old Siddurim "Zecher".
