Whats the story concerning Tehilim פג? R' Hamburger says that it should be said every day of the year, including Shabbos and Yom Tov. I seem to be under the impression that it is not said on Shabbos, Yom Tov, or any day of Hallel. R' Breuer writes in Minhagai Yeshurun (page 7, # 29), "Shir Mizmor L'Asaph is not said on Shabbos and Yom Tov." What's going on?

There are two minhogim regarding this Perek, while Minhag Frankfurt is to say it every day (as mentioned in
Divrei Kehillos
pg 76, and in sidur Sfas Emes - Rodelheim).

I would like to add a general point about the minhag of saying "Shir Mizmor Le'osof". The minhag of saying Shir Mizmor Le'osof is a very old minhag, from the end of the Ge'onim's time (a few hundred years before Shir Shel Yom was brought in to the davening).

We see Shir Mizmor Le'osoph first in the Machzor Vitri. The reason most likely was because of the צרות and גזרות that were on Am Yisroel all the time.
