How to turn around during hagbohas haTorah נוצר על ידי Litvak

Reb Doniel, a friend of mine, asked me about the following.
He said that someone told him that when a person does hagbohas haTorah, part of which is turning around so the people in various parts of the Shul can see the ksav, he should turn to the right and make a complete circle, going completely around (like 360 degrees), rather than what is often seen, namely people turning to one side and then another side, making a series of semi-circles.
He wanted to know if that was correct. What indeed is the proper minhog ?
Any background on this and other hagboh related practices would be appreciated.

Well, getting back to the Tosefta mentioned before (
Point at the sefer Torah while saying V'zous Hatorah
), it did not say anything about making a circle...all it said was different sides.

The most common minhog is to turn to the left and then turn back and again turn to the right, as is understood from the Shulchan Oruch.
The Chavos Yo'ir does bring that there were other minhogim in his time too, so doing a full circle is also a valid minhog, but as said - the common minhog was not to do a full circle.
