Minhag Ashkenaz is to bow down (the head and the top of the body), as done by all of Klal Yisro'el, in the Oleinu said throughout the year.

תגובה מLitvak בדיון Bowing during Oleinu

Just to explain about the question. The background to the question was that I recalled seeing somewhere that there is a minhog not to do the bowing of the head and upper body during Oleinu, so I was curious (lo habayshan lomeid) about minhag Ashkenaz in the matter.
I think I now found now where I saw that there was a minhag not to bow - it seems that it is minhag haGR"A (מובא קודם עלינו בּסידור אזור אליהו ע"פּ נוסח הגר"א שיצא לאור בּשנים האחרונות בּא"י, ועי"ש טעמו).
Since at times minhag haGR"A is like minhag Ashkenaz (e.g. re saying nikadeish.....,that only the chazan says it), I was wondering if that might have been the case here as well.
Thanks for the response.
