Is the Minhag to say Ki Malachav between Shalom Alaichem and Eishes Chayil?

First we need to discuss if it is a Minhag to say Shalom Aleichem. The Minhag to say it is as old as the Minhag Ashkenaz to sing L'cho Dodi. The Chasam Sofer did not say Shalom Aleichem as he considered it hubris to assume that one is accompanied home by angels, just as the Shulchan Aruch says we no longer say Hiskabdu before entering the lavatory.
