Havdalla Motzei Shabbos into Yom Tov

Is the Minhag to take two candles and touch them together for the bracha of Meorei Ha'aish or is the Minhag to leave them apart? I heard that different poskim (R' Elyashiv) have different reasons to say its best not to, and I heard that R' Moshe said it is no problem. Do we know what the Yekkish Minhag is?
